Maggie Antram – Embroidery Class Tutor
Whittlesea U3A has been fortunate in getting a very experienced Tutor to lead our new Embroidery class which commences in the Third Term of 2014.

It will be a hand embroidery class which will entail embellishing on crazy patchwork.
This class will run fortnightly on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month in South Morang from 1.00PM to 3.00PM and will be led by “Maggie Antram”.
Maggie is a very passionate embroiderer with over 40 years’ experience; she has served on the Embroidery Guild Committee on several occasions and was elected and served as President for two separate terms.
She has exhibited work in Embroidery Exhibitions in Adelaide, Bendigo and Melbourne on a number of occasions.
She helped coordinate and exhibited in the famous Johnson Collection – Christmas Exhibition in East Melbourne on two separate occasions.
She is also a qualified Embroidery Designer and Experienced Teacher and was one of the people invited to assist in the restoration of the famous Sun Loong dragon at the Bendigo Chinese Museum in preparation for the 100 year Chinese New Year Celebrations in 2012
Sun Loong is the oldest & longest Chinese Dragon in the world and extremely fragile and intricate and forms a very important part of the Chinese Heritage in Australia.
Maggie’s passion is embellishing with threads, beads, ribbons & trinkets. She likens Embroidery to a Work of Art and sees it as “Painting with Threads”
She enjoys passing on her knowledge to other people who are interested and recommends Embroidery as a very soothing pastime for anybody willing to get involved.
Maggie comes from a long line of Embroideries with her Mother, who graduated from Art school in Adelaide also winning many awards for her Embroidery work.
A special kit containing the necessary materials and tools will be provided at a nominal once only charge of $10.00, this is to ensure that all participants have everything necessary to start embroidering from day one.
