Important information on COVID-19

A message from Network U3A

Dear Members of U3A, Presidents, and Secretaries

There is a lot of news and comment happening across the globe about the current COVID-19 virus. U3A Network’s recommendation remains that members regularly look to the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for guidance, as the situation is changing quickly. This is the link to their information for the public – novel coronavirus page.

DHHS’s advice is as follows:

“At the present time, there is no evidence of transmission in the community in Victoria so you should continue to go about your business. You don’t need to take actions like limiting your movement in the community or staying at home.”

In accordance with national public health guidelines and current information about coronavirus disease from the Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer, DHHS advises all people who have visited mainland China, and who come to Australia from 1 February 2020 to stay at home and avoid public settings, until 14 days after leaving mainland China. Network recommends that U3As encourage members who are unwell to stay home and seek medical advice, rather than attend activities.
