Seniors’ Week

Each year the Victorian Seniors Festival is a chance to recognise and celebrate Victoria’s Seniors. There were many community based organisations partaking in this event. There was something for everyone including; concerts, dance, films, celebratory morning teas, tours, seminars, learning opportunities and much more. Whittlesea U3A choir sang their hearts out and were a delight to listen to. Not only was the festival celebrated at Federation Square, but locally. Pacific Epping Shopping Plaza had a Walking Football demonstration.

People of all abilities aged over 50 were welcomed to come along or form a team to play in the social competition. Men’s and women’s teams  There was a colourful opening ceremony, a warm-up exercise class led by a local physiotherapist, ‘come and try’ soccer clinics, a social competition and BBQ lunch. The World Cups (Female and Male) were strongly contested and a great time was had by all. There would have been lots of aching muscles the next day, but all for a good cause.
