“Discussion Over Morning Tea” – 28th May, 2018

Our discussion group was attended well but unfortunately we received a large number of apologies who were unable to attend due to other commitments; but  at the same time, we were pleased to note that the group has grown. We also welcomed newcomers as a result of the Whittlesea Volunteer Expo that was held on the previous Friday 25th May in the township and Whittlesea U3A was represented by Peter Rodaughan and myself, who mingled with the large crowd handing out information.

Whittlesea U3A Travel representative Geoff Wise gave a talk and an interest was developed in class activity involvement with CAC venue. Nella Palmeri, Volunteer from the Council of Whittlesea also attended our discussion who gave a talk regarding issues of interest and her input was greatly appreciated. Her talk centered on what she felt were the needs and requirements of the township local meeting groups to be addressed in Mernda, Donnybrook and surrounding areas. Whittlesea U3A is hopeful of introducing further informative programs and activities within the township and there has been interest shown as a direct result from the Whittlesea Volunteer Expo, so we were delighted with this outcome.

Details of Whittlesea U3A classes and activities and including membership forms have recently been made available at Whittlesea Community Activity Centre, Laurel Street, Whittlesea, and has proved to be quite popular for those who do not have a computer.

Both Peter and I were able to meet and greet many Whittlesea Township residents during the Volunteer Expo and were delighted to meet up and chat with Terry and Elaine who host the Whittlesea Township Friday Cruise Night, which is held on the first Friday of each month. The event has been successfully running in the township for 3 years and welcomes visitors from interstate and country wide who have learnt of the event and travel into the township for that particular event.

President, Glen Wall discussed the Whittlesea Community Connector Project and the Whittlesea Seniors Link-Up Program and welcomed input by all at our discussion group on ideas required to address the needs and requirements within the township and surrounding areas.

The next discussion group will be held on the 25th June 2018 at 1100 am at the Whittlesea township.

Book Launch by Whittlesea U3A will be held at the Mill Park Library 394 Plenty Road, Mill Park on Sunday 29th July at 2pm.
