Vale Joyce Reid

IMG_2647It is with deep sadness we announce one of our founding members, Joyce Reid, passed away 25 March 2016.

Joyce loved and embraced U3A.  Early on she joined the committee of management holding positions such as Course Coordinator, Publicity Officer and representative for the Riverside Committee.

During her many years at Whittlesea U3A Joyce attended and enjoyed countless classes including Family History, Discover Melbourne by Train, Busy Hands Circle, Mosaic, exercises, Italian, Knitting and all of the social events including the Coach holidays, morning teas and breakfast.

Joyce was the ultimate advocate for U3A, sometimes approaching strangers to tell them the many advantages to joining a U3A no matter what suburb they lived in.

img083Joyce nurtured the first social morning teas and often commented on how she carried and set out the cups and plates for the twenty or so members who attended to how it had now grown to over one hundred.

Joyce was a dedicated member of Whittlesea U3A and she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Our deepest condolences to her family.
